To contribute to the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust Charity’s recent event which seeked to raise funding for a new set of scalp cooling caps aimed at helping chemotherapy patients at Wolverhampton’s New Cross Hospital, MG Timber donated one of their A-frame picnic tables . This generous donation was used as a prize in the event’s raffle, attracting considerable interest from attendees and encouraging participation in the fundraising activities.

The Deanesly Centre at New Cross Hospital launched a fundraising appeal to acquire scalp cooling caps, which have been shown to help 50% of patients retain at least half of their hair during chemotherapy. Hair loss is often one of the most distressing side effects of cancer treatment, impacting patients’ self-esteem and sense of identity. To effectively reach their ambitious fundraising goal, the Centre required support from local businesses and the community to generate interest and resources.

M.G. Timber donated an A-frame picnic table as a raffle prize for the fundraising campaign, adding excitement to the event at the Deanesly Centre. By offering this picnic table, MG Timber encouraged attendees to participate and engage in the activities, helping to foster a strong sense of community involvement. This donation not only provided a valuable reward for participants but also highlighted the company’s commitment to supporting local health initiatives.

The fundraising campaign launched with a fun day at the Deanesly Centre, featuring activities like a tombola, cake sale, games and a highly anticipated raffle. Helen Boyce, Group Manager for Haematology, Oncology and Specialist Palliative Care, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from staff, patients and local businesses, including MG Timber, The Grand Theatre and Monmore Green Stadium.
